One Terrific Tip For Fantastic Family Bible Studies
I used to have TEN tips for Family Bible Studies. But through much experience, I discovered that only ONE tip is needed. Please read the beautiful story below.
Booklets Transformed my 16 year old son.
My husband and I have 5 beautiful kids. We have raised our kids in church and overall have a great family who all love Jesus. Doing the best we could, we still found our 16-year-old son drifting and my husband and our oldest son have had a hard time connecting.
When we found out about the Fab 5 booklets which answer all of the hard questions about Christianity, I offered my 16 year old son $25 per booklet, if he would read them carefully and talk them over with his dad. The results were so DRAMATIC. My son absolutely LOVED the booklets. Even more I saw him grow much more confident in Jesus in a very short amount of time.
He asked if we could continue studying the booklets and receiving $25 per booklet.
I thought about our money. Like many families we can spend $500 on a dentist and $50,000 on a car and $5,000 on a family vacation. Our budget is tight, but I was seeing more spiritual change in my son in a few days than I have seen in years. I would FIND the money.
If it got to be too expensive, I could ask him to pay for his own entertainment with his money.
If his booklet charges got too expensive, I could even have him buy some of his own clothes.
If it gets too expensive, I can limit him to one booklet per week.
In other words, it was not that hard to find this money in our budget. We cut way back on eating out and used that money to pay my son to read booklets and discuss them with his dad.
I can NOT fully put into words what has happened in the time since then. My son has gone through TWELVE more booklets. He chases us down to study more booklets.
He and his dad have become best friends and LOVE to meet and talk. They sometimes meet for HOURS to talk about the booklets. They talk all the time, laugh together and love to be together.
He came to me tonight for payment and I asked him per each book what was his one favorite point (I still needed to verify before making payment) and we went down the list. I am blown away by his responses. I joked with him about picking up the booklets on "Divorce" and "Training Children to Praise their Parents"” and he AND his Dad quickly told me that those were really good ones too because our son had a lot of questions for his Dad. Today my son said to me:
"I started doing this for the money, but what I've learned is the true reward".
I am seeing my son process really deep subject with Biblical wisdom and maturity that will guide him through his entire adult life.
In addition, these booklets have completely TRANSFORMED my son's relationship with his dad and with Jesus. My son is now so much more confident, open and eager to talk with us about his personal life and the subjects on his heart. He told me that he has gone from "Nervous" to "Confident" about his future and feels like he now has SOLID ANSWERS to some of life's hardest questions.
My advice to every parent and grandparent is very simple.
PAY THEM!
Your teens will CHASE you down and your dreams and prayers for your children will be answered.
Many parents pay $10,000 - $20,000 a year for Christian school. That is a good investment but this is the BEST investment of your money you will ever make.
